What to expect 8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS

Day 1 Arrival in Tanzania

We are flying in to Kilimanjaro International Airport, obtain our visa and  transfer to our hotel where we will have some time to relax.

Day 2 Kilimanjaro National Park – Machame Camp (3010 m)

Our trekking adventure in Africa begins. You will be picked up from your hotel right after the breakfast and we arrive at the entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park after a 45-minute drive. Machame Gate is at 1790m. Very soon we find ourselves deep within the magnificent mountain rainforest. If we are lucky, we might hear the beautiful black and white thumb-less Colobus monkeys in the treetops. After climbing 5–7 hours and ascending 1200m we reach our destination for today – The Machame Camp – situated at 3010m. We have our first dinner and overnight stay at the base of the Kilimanjaro.

Day 3 Kilimanjaro National Park – Park Shira Camp (3845 m)

We leave the Machame Camp after an early morning wake up call. The path gets steeper and the landscape turns into a moor and heath land, allowing us to enjoy the view of the impressive mountain range. Today’s walk is shorter than the previous one and we reach the New Shira Campsite at the Shira Plateau by mid-afternoon. The camp offers a breath-taking view of the mountain, especially at sunset.

Day 4 Kilimanjaro National Park – Barranco Camp (3960 m)

There is a 800m climb today ahead of us but we camp at an elevation only slightly higher than the previous night. This will allow you to acclimatize as a height of over 4600m will be reached the next two days before descending again. Our trek begins with a long ascent above the Shira Plateau in the direction of the Lava Tower Hut (4640m). After walking for 6–7 hours we arrive at the most beautiful camp on Kilimanjaro- the Barranco Camp.

Day 5 Kilimanjaro National Park – Barafu Camp (4640 m)

Our today's trek starts with the climb of the “Barranco Wall” and we will be secured where necessary along this route. We follow the ridge as it wanders up and down, offering amazing views of the south glacier of Kibo. We have a lunch in the Karanga Valley and prepare for the 2–3 hrs climb to Barafu Camp (4640m). After arrival at our camp we have dinner and take an early night in preparation for the next day. Our guide will wake us up at 11:30pm and the climb begins right after the midnight.

Day 6 Kilimanjaro National Park – Uhuru Peak (Summit 5895 m) – Mweka Camp (3080 m)

We begin our climb to the Uhuru peak around 00.30 a.m. Climbing the steps of the Kibo we arrive at Stella Point after 5-7 hours of hard trekking. From this crater rim of Kilimanjaro we carry on walking for another 1-2 hours along the edge to finally reach the summit, Uhuru Peak (5895m). The descent runs almost along the same route and shortly before the noon we arrive at Camp Barafu, where we take a break to rest for 1-2 hours. We continue to Camp Mweka (3080m) and look forward to an evening meal and a good night’s sleep.

Day 7 Kilimanjaro National Park – Mweka Gate (1630 m) – Arusha

There is a final part of our amazing adventure ahead of us, which begins after the breakfast followed by a traditional farewell ceremony from the mountain guides. Final two hours of walking down through the rainforest before we reach Mweka Gate, where our driver takes us back to the Hotel in Arusha.

Day 8 Arusha & Flight Home

The beautiful week of trekking the Kilimanjaro is coming to an end after the breakfast. You can book with us any further safari activities in Tanzania, or spend a few days relaxing at the beaches of Zanzibar.
