After relaxing day in Kampala we take a long ride to Lake Bunyonyi, which is a small but an attractive lake best known for its breathtaking scenery, birdlife and surrounded by mountains. We take an advantage of this beautiful spot to relax the night before the final drive to the mountain gorillas.
It is believed that there are only around 800 mountain gorillas left in the world and the only home of the mountain gorillas is Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. We will be guided by experienced trackers through verdant forests. The trek to gorillas can be demanding sometimes with hilly rainforest but the privilege of spending time with a family of these gentle primates makes the effort more than well worthwhile. Once we find the gorilla family, we sit down and observe gorillas for an hour.
On our next free day in Bunyonyi we will have the opportunity to participate in several optional activities, such as hiking or exploring the area on a mountain bike. We also visit the Nyombi Village, which is reached by motor boat from Bunyonyi Resort, so we have the opportunity to learn about the culture of the Pygmies.
